Dryer Lint Fire Starters

Dryer lint fire starters in an egg carton

HOW TO:

1. Fill egg cups in cardboard egg cartons with dryer lint, packing it down.

2. Melt paraffin (Gulf Wax) in a can or glass jar you do not want to keep. Set the can or jar in a pan of gently boiling water to melt the wax.

3. Carefully pour the wax over the lint in the egg carton to saturate all the lint.

4. Allow to cool.

5. Close the lid of the egg carton for storage and stacking.

TO USE: cut or tear the cups apart. Light a corner of the cardboard cup to use as starter fuel for a fire.

TIPS

  • Use empty 15-ounce cans in a medium saucepan.
  • Squeeze the tops of the cans slightly to form a pouring spout.
  • Use just enough water to melt the wax. The cans will float if there is too much water in the pan.
